Blog Action Day 2008: Poverty   /     BlogActionDay Part 2

Summary

Bloggers Unite! BlogTalkRadio is joining forces with “Blog Action Day 2008: Poverty” to take the conversion to all four corners of the globe. On Wednesday, October 15, the network will host a 12-hour Talkathon for Poverty Relief. Airing from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. EDT, the program will be anchored live from Denver, Colorado, by BlogActionDay.org’s Easton Ellsworth, with BlogTalkRadio hosts sharing co-hosting duties from throughout the U.S. Leading bloggers around the world are scheduled to appear as guests, along with notables from the political, entertainment and literary arenas. More than 11,000 websites have already signed on to participate in this year’s Blog Action Day by blogging about poverty and aiding poverty-relief efforts. Among the blogs currently involved are TechCrunch, ReadWriteWeb, LifeHacker, Mashable, ProBlogger and DailyBlogTips. The organizers estimate that some 11.7 million people worldwide are already aware of the event and will read about it on October 15. A non-profit event, Blog Action Day was launched last year when two bloggers asked, “What would happen if all the bloggers of the world united for a single cause?” What did happen during the United Nations-backed “Blog Action Day 2007: The Environment” was more than 20,000 bloggers offering ways to help solve hundreds of environmental crises.
