Shownotes

First hour: Greg Ehrbar reviews the complete series DVD release of Coach, along with Shout! Factory’s DVD release of Take a Good Look, the offbeat comedy game show hosted by Ernie Kovacs. Also in this hour: Tony Figueroa and Donna Allen remember “A House Divided,” the episode of Dallas that triggered the “Who Shot J.R.” phenomenon in the summer of 1980. Second hour: Author and pop culture historian Wesley Hyatt joins Ed for a look at the network TV career of legendary comedian Bob Hope. Wes’ latest book, Bob Hope on TV: Thanks for the Video Memories, is a decade-by-decade encyclopedic look at nearly 1,000 hours of Hope’s appearances on television from 1950 through 1996, including Hope’s annual Christmas specials, his fourteen appearances as host of the Academy Awards, his numerous guest appearances on variety shows and daytime and late night talk shows, his weekly anthology series, his acting roles on such shows as I Love Lucy, Get Smart, The Odd Couple and The Simpsons and, of course, the nearly 200 comedy variety spectaculars that Hope hosted on NBC for more than forty-five years.
