Are you thinking of taking up running, but are scared to get started? Ready to sign up for your first race, but can't quite turn in that registration? Want to tackle a marathon, but lack the confidence or motivation to train?  Do you have great training seasons, but fall apart on race day? Then listen up! Kay Porter, owner of Porter Performance Systems, a sports and organizational counseling firm here Eugene, teaches mental training techniques to athletes, teams and businesses. She'll talk to us about procrastination, fear of failure or fear of success, and give us ideas about setting goals, visioning, and designing action plans. Kay is the author of The Mental Athlete: Inner Training for Peak Performance, Human Kinetics, and Visual Athletics.  She is a contributing writer for national magazines and journals to include "Physician & Sports Medicine and Runner's World. Dr. Porter was a competitive tennis player through college and has been a competitive masters runner having completed nine marathons. One of her passions is helping women get fit and finding their inner athlete.
