Summary

Soil Fertility is not what you think.
Fertility is measured by how much nutrients a soil can hold not what you put down.
I’ve said a million times chemical fertilizers are not plant food. They are vitamins. We’ll explore the difference between chemical nutrition and natural biological fertilization. Soil fertility is the measure of the amount of nutrients (nitrogen, potassium, etc.) the soil can hold. By adding lawn fertilizer you add nutrients but if the soil is sandy that product will not last. However if you add organic matter you add material that will be ‘sticky’ and grab plant nutrients and retain them.
