Welcome back to the Spartacast! In this edition, we cover Favre, favre, FAVRE!, Favre? And even touch on Brett. Plus more NFL talk, and some college football realignment. Younglefty joins Sparty and I for a full hour of riveting sports banter, and away we go... 00:00 Intro and right into the Favre talk. Keep in mind, this was all recorded on Tuesday night... 10:00 Sparty: "I've been a big, big fan of Sage Rosenfels..." Everyone mark this page and refer back to it sometime in November... 11:45 Somehow, we make a transition to the Chargers... that was quick. At least we get to rip on LdT for awhile... 13:15 I still cannot believe I said the words "In fairness to Tomlinson..." 16:15 I probably could have just given a big "F You Spencer" here, but I like my way better... 16:30 And a nice transition to the upcoming NFL Labor problems 21:15 Without Trey on board this week, we needed some type of off-topic tangent. Luckily for us, Sparty was watching the Yankees/Blue Jays game Tuesday night, and Travis Snyder completely took Sparty off track. We manage to get back with talk of Albert Haynesworth. 27:30 After spending five minutes dissecting the Albert Haynesworth situation, Sparty deftly maneuvers us into full fledged NFC East talk! Huzzah! Somehow, I manage to end up defending the Cowboys. 41:00 TWENTY MINUTES on the NFC East in some fashion... I attempted to move to discussion to baseball. It didn't work. We moved to college football... eventually. 43:35 I'm going to hell. 44:00 And... we turn to Big Tweleven realignment talk for the next ten minutes. 49:15 So, would it work? Michigan vs. Ohio State twice in one year, possibly on back to back weeks? Would it devalue the rivalry? Would ratings suffer? Would Michigan maybe win once? I've got to admit, the Big Tweleven North/South thing sounds pretty decent. 52:00 Sparty decides the best way to get Lefty fired up is to criticize Virginia Tech and start the ACC football talk. I was all too happy to chime in. And then the Jacory Harris talk started. Let's say Lefty was suddenly invigorated... 55:45 D: "Everything in college football has a shelf life of a week..." Prophetic. I tell you, this is the kind of analysis you just don't get anywhere else. 56:55 Sparty: "Boise State doesn't deserve to be in the National Title picture, no matter what... I hope Virginia Tech just goes out there and ends it (the Boise State National Title discussion) right there..." Geez, I can't imagine why the good people of Idaho hold a grudge against this site. 59:00 As we close down for the week, I bring up a very important point: just go ahead and click on a couple of the ads on this site. Click on them and then close them, we don't care. Originally posted at: http://www.spartyandfriends.com/2010/08/06/the-weekly-spartacast-the-southpaws-debut/
