Tales From The Deep North   /     Episode 4: Always Look Down

Description

I spent a day this summer with Steven Blondo, owner and head archaeologist of Blondo Consulting.  He kindly invited me to come on a dig with him and experience what a real archaeological dig is like. Along the way we have a great chat about archaeology in general, as a way of life, and the top potential digs in Minnesota.  Steven and I have a fair amount in common, especially in how we look at the world.  We both have an affinity for looking where other people do not. I use fiddle tunes as my musical archaeological dig to show how history embeds within music and how one can tease meaning and trace origins backwards in time.  There's plenty of music in this one. I wrap up with a poem called "The Fiddler's Reply" by a wonderful musician named Joel Mabus.  This poem is used by permission of the author.  His website is http://www.joelmabus.com. As always, please visit www.deepnorthmn.com for more show notes, pics and a video
