Summary

Working in with gatheringthevoices.com, the Glasgow-based Jewish history organisation, we have created the podcast series: Stars & Saltires. In this series we go on the search for Scotland’s hidden generation of refugees. Stars & Saltires is produced with the aid of Gathering the Voices and testimonies from those who made the journey from occupied Europe to the furthest reaches of the British Isles. Experience, in their own words, what it meant to be ‘new’ Scots in 1940s Scotland.

In this episode we visit the history of Aberdeen’s Tivoli Theatre, and Walter Kress’s special connection to the venue. We interview Claire Singerman of Gathering the Voices and search for the stories of adopted Scots.
We hope you enjoy the show.
