On August 6th, the 24/7 Hockey with have Ville-Marie, Quebec native Sacha Guimond who started his junior hockey career during the 2009 β 2010 hockey season with the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League North bay Trappers. In 70 games with the Trappers from 2009 β 2011, Sacha scored 24 goals and had 48 assists during the two NOJHL seasons in North Bay. Guimond played two season in the Canadian Hockey League with a stop in London with the Knights of the Ontario Hockey League in the 2010 β 2011 season and one season with Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in the 2011 β 2012 QMJHL season. In his two seasons in the CHL, the 6β2β and 175 lbs defenseman sank 10 goals and added another 37 assists in two seasons. In 14 CHL post-season games, Guimond had one goal and 4 assists during the 2011 and 2012 CHL playoffs. Guimond, 22, spent the 2012-13 season with the ECHLβs San Francisco Bulls and then the Gwinnett Gladiators putting up 49 points in 58 games. He was the ECHL Defenseman of the Year and was named to both the First All-Star Team and All-Rookie Team. Guimond was both the points and assists leader in the ECHL. He also played six games in the AHL with the Worcester Sharks and Norfolk Admirals. Believe it or not, Guimond was apparently sought after by four different teams: the Phoenix Coyotes, Winnipeg Jets, Los Angeles Kings, and New York Islanders. He picked the Canucks because they offered him an AHL contract in addition to a training camp invite.
