Ok so we're finishing off the year with the podcasts you've been waiting for! This is part 2 of the coaches series and in this episode I sat down with Mike and Alexis to discuss the highs and lows of 2016 and a preview on 2017. Alexis: I retired from fighting early 2014 which is when I found CrossFit. It changed the way I looked at fitness and I remember having a light bulb moment within the first week of training. ‘Why had I not discovered this sooner?!’ It changed the way I trained and the way I coached. I believe that without mastering basic functional movements you will never be able to perform optimally in almost anything you do. CrossFit gave me the opportunity to help get stronger and healthier and stay that way for longer. Now I have the chance to help others do the same. When I met the team at Perpetua I quickly realised that they shared the same passion as I do. I am constantly learning and we help push each other to achieve our goals together. As well as coaching at Perpetua, I try to test myself regularly in competitions. It helps keep me on my toes, keeps me in shape and is a great opportunity to meet new people outside of our box. But above all I like to train in regular classes at our box when I can and just have fun. After all that is what we are all here for! Mike: Making the move to Perpetua was an easy choice for me; it was everything I was looking for in a gym and surprised me with so much more. They highlight the importance of becoming an efficient, injury free, movement machine. Crossfit unlocked sides of fitness for me that I never thought possible. Although my gymnastics was already a strong point going into Crossfit, I have become stronger and quicker which improves not only my strong points but my weaknesses as well! http://crossfitperpetua.com/about-us/
