ExploreTraveler Radio   /     Episode-2348- Self Ownership Over Political Activism

Description

Today I was chatting with Nicole Sauce on facebook and discussing what to do for today’s show.  One thing she suggested was perhaps, “why libertarians often come off as assholes and what they can do to better serve their marketing push“.  It didn’t slip by me that Nicole said libertarians vs. Libertarians. In libertarian circles capital L means the LP, as in the official Libertarian Party.  Like most liberty minded individuals I had my time considering the LP a viable option.  I even ran for Congress in Texas as an LP party member.  That one stint at running taught me how dirty, bought and paid for and tightly controlled all government really is.  All of that for a job that pays 600 dollars a month and for a hotel while you are in Austin? So over time I became more a political atheist, first going from Libertarian to libertarian, then on to voluntarist/anarchist.  That said I am still a libertarian.  I think it was Ian Freeman of Free Talk Live, who I first heard say, “All anarchists are libertarians but not all libertarians are anarchists”. You see libertarianism is grounded really on only two principles. 1.  The NAP or non aggression principle.  The simple version of this is simply don’t hurt people and don’t take their stuff. 2.  The Principle of self ownership.  Simply meaning that you own yourself and no one else should have any claim upon you, your labor, your dreams, your choices, etc. These two principles are actually one in the same.  So why the redundancy.  Well because one tells you how to treat others, the second tells you how to treat yourself.  While the NAP prevents you from harming others, the principle of self ownership removes any and all excuses from your life.  If you believe you own yourself, you are your own responsibility even when others violate the NAP in your life, and they will, daily. The problem with Libertarian Politics is it sounds like beautiful music, right up until you try to play it for someone else.  You quickly find that while the word freedom is elevated to worship status in the religion of US Statism, no one really seems to want it.  Today we examine what all this means and what it means for you. Join Me Today to Discuss… The NAP and Self Ownership and how they work for individuals Libertarian vs. libertarian vs. voluntarist/anarchist My story of running for office and why I ended any fantasies I had about government How you can see the trap of politics in the illegal immigration debate Why Self Ownership is more important to grasp then the NAP The NAP will be violated on you daily, so just accept that Self Ownership is something you control in spite of others actions Self Ownership is about personal responsibility, not what someone else should do Self Ownership drives home that freedom applies to everyone or it isn’t freedom Self Ownership employs the Geoff Lawton Principle of – “if the designer is good, the more restrictions the more eloquent the design” Ways you can practice self ownership Solve any and all problems you can solve outside the State’s systems Build a business and use the 90% of the tax code that tells you how to get out of the 10% Develop micro economies (practice agorism) Use crypto curencies, gold, silver, barter, etc Draft your own contracts, appoint your own arbitrators MYOB – mind your own business Influence others to take positive actions Don’t delude yourself, in many ways we individually are not that important Take care of yourself, reboot, etc. Define your version of success and achieve it Final thoughts   Resources for today’s show… Join the Members Brigade Join Our Forum Walking To Freedom TspAz.com The Granddaddy’s Gun Club Bullhead Fishing Forum – A new little site I started Binance.com Biltong for Breakfast On this Day in 1620 The Mayflower Docks at Plymouth Old Time Christmas – George Strait   Sponsors of the Day West[...]
