Getting to Know Us What is Higher Ed Tech? A recurring podcast about topics around educational technology in higher education and how they affect teaching and learning in the United States of America. That is a pretty specific focus but we realize that Higher Ed Tech does not happen in a vacuum. We will be bringing in a broad spectrum of interests from the worlds of K-12, public/private universities, international issues and all sorts of things related to how technology affects education – the good and the bad. Our hosts will be your guide and in this episode they each introduce themselves. They all work in educational technology in higher education and are students of educational technology at The Ohio State University. Cory Tressler http://twitter.com/TresslerTech Cory is an Associate Director of Learning Programs he has experience in mobile learning, both in higher ed and k12, online learning and in improving lectures with technology. He is also a PhD student in Educational Technology, in his spare time. Autumm Caines http://twitter.com/autumm Autumm has worked in a variety of higher ed environments and currently works for a small liberal arts college as the Associate Director of Academic Technology. Autumm’s interest are in faculty development, hybrid and online courses, the flipped classroom and community development in online environments. Autumm is currently a master’s student in ed tech. Byron Roush http://twitter.com/ntderosu Byron does stuff with things. He has spent almost ten years supporting blended learning, mobile learning and online learning projects in a traditional university setting. Current interests have shifted toward faculty development and innovative assessment. Byron is currently a master’s student in ed tech. Nicole Kraft http://twitter.com/Nicole_Kraft Nicole teaches journalism with a digital dynamic, specializing in news reporting, editing, feature writing, social media in journalism and multimedia journalism. Nicole has interests in understanding the intersection of technology and journalism education, specifically mobile technology like iPads and personal learning environments. She has authored five iTunes U courses, and the interactive textbooks: “Always Get the name of the Dog,” on media interviewing, and “Writing Like Rabbits.” Her work in social media, iPads in teaching and the flipped class has been featured by Apple, and in the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and USA Today. In addition to all of that, she is also working on her PhD in Educational Technology. *Whew*
