Ethan Bence is a young hip-hop artist from Pittsburgh, PA and a student at Carnegie Mellon University. He joins me to discuss how he got started in hip hop after it was just a passing interest of his growing up, how looking to show up somebody else lit a fire under his ass, and how he's gotten his name out in the crowded world of hip hop startups. We also discuss that old stereotype of the kid trying to make it big in hip hop in your hometown and how to turn the producer world on its head (hint: it's much like how to turn the book publishing world on its head). Ethan will join me for part 2 next week from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
