With your help, I can expand this podcast and deliver better content!Due to his trained ability to withstand extreme cold, Wim Hof has earned the nickname"The Iceman", and he’s one of the most charismatic and enjoyable people I’ve had the chance to speak with. At 55 years old, Wim Hof is forcing western sciences to re-write text books as he has shown the ability, in a lab setting, to voluntarily control his body temperature, immune system, and various parts of the autonomic nervous system.Wim holds 26 world records, some of which include: Running a marathon in the Namibian desert without water, only wearing shorts. Running a marathon in Finland above the arctic circle, barefoot in only shorts at -20 deg celsius. Summiting Mount Kilimanjaro in under 32 hours with a group of novice climbers. And not surprisingly, Wim holds the world record for the longest ice bath at just under 2 hours. In this episode we discuss how the cold became his teacher, his experience getting caught on Mount Everest in a blizzard in just shorts at 19,000 feet, how breathing can shut down pain receptors, and the exciting new lab experiments being performed at a local University. To date, there are many independent accounts that I’ve come across of people using the Wim Hof Method to lose weight, improve sleep, reverse Lyme disease, depression, fatigue, and chronic pain conditions. You can sign up for his video course, live workshops, and expeditions at www.innerfire.nl and you can try out a free mini-course at www.wimhofmethod.com/video-miniclass/. What You'll Hear In This Episode 2:55 - How Wim discovered that cold water therapy and breath work could make him superhuman. 5:28 - How Wim knew he was capable of accomplishing amazing feets of endurance and strength. 9:18 - Why the Iceman ventured into the cold when he was 17 years old. 12:16 - Using the cold to teach you how to breathe, raising the pH of the blood to promote health. 14:15 - When Wim learned to feel that he was able to control the autonomic nervous system and immune system. 16:06 - What happened when Wim shared his methods with friends and family. 19:10 - How Wim was able to deal with the constant verbal attacks and mockery of his claims. 20:36 - Getting caught in a blizzard at 19,000 feet (6000 meters) elevation on Mount Everest barefoot, in only shorts, with no oxygen. 22:16 - Increasing our instinct and intuitive capacity by tapping into our physiology through breath work and focus. 22:53 - Wim Hof plays guitar and sings The Crazy Monkey song live. 25:35 - Accessing the primitive reptilian brain. 27:11 - Swimming 100 m in ice water on one breath, hanging by 1 finger at 2000 ft altitude, and spending 2 hours in ice. 28:06 - Taking 120 people in shorts and bikinis to the top of a mountain in Poland where it was -30 deg C. 29:35 - The physiological changes, documented by University research, with implementation of Wim’s breathing technique. 31:56 - How Wim’s breathing method creates a surge of adrenaline. 34:26 - The strange and intense reactions when you super oxygenate the body& the parts of the brain that are affected.Resource Links Wim Hof Method Mini-classWim Hof Method Online Video CourseWim Hof Website Homepage& Vice DocumentaryFacebook: The Iceman (Wim Hof)University Research StudyHow To Subscribe For Free! Due to his trained ability to withstand extreme cold, Wim Hof has earned the nickname “The Iceman”, and he’s one of the most charismatic and enjoyable people I’ve had the chance to speak with. At 55 years old, Wim Hof is forcing western sciences to re-write text books as he has shown the ability, in a lab setting, to voluntarily control his body temperature, immune system, and various parts of the autonomic nervous system.

Wim holds 26 world records, some of which include:

  • Running a marathon in the Namibian desert without water, only wearing shorts.
  • Running a marathon in Finland above the arctic circle, barefoot in only shorts at -20 deg celsius.
