Constipation though a common problem which is both frustrating, comfortable can also be painful based on the complexity level. Before stepping in for treatment it is necessary to have in-depth diagnosis of the
cause for constipation which will help in coming up with an effective remedy.
Among various
treatments to constipation which includes medication, changes to the diet & other factors suggested above it is also necessary to incorporate some prunes or prune juice into the diet.
Prunes are also known as dried plums that are full of indissoluble fiber which also is one of the main reasons to prevent constipation. This fiber in prunes apart from soaking up large amounts of water to add volume to stools making it easily pass away will also provide food to good bacteria present in the large intestine.
When the good bacterium makes use of this fiber will produce butyric acid that is a fatty acid which adds fuel to the cells in intestine to ensure that the colon is healthy. Apart from this there are other acids like acetic & propionic which will add as fuel to the cells in liver and muscles.
The soluble fiber in prunes will help in lessening the cholesterol levels thereby mitigating the risk of heart disease. The damage of cholesterol on arteries can be minimized with the action of phenolic compounds like
neochlorogenic & chlorogenic acids which are antioxidants to the bad cholesterol levels.
Hence, considering it from the point of fiber it is suggested to consume whole prunes rather than prune juice. Like it has been said earlier, Prunes are known to be a
natural laxative without any side effects. Prunes being rich fiber food can be included directly into the diet or in the form of juice to control constipation thereby regulating the bowel movements.
It also has been proven through high end research that prune juice is a natural laxative which relieves the discomfort caused by constipation through several actions. Prune juice is full of a substance named dihydrophenylisatin which helps in muscle contractions which is supported by several sugars like sucrose, fructose & sorbitol which helps in getting lots of fluids to the intestines thereby making it easy for the waste to pass out through the body.
Additionally, prune juice also has an added benefit of adding volume of fluid to the waste which adds to contractions that helps easy bowel movement.
