“I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life – and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do.”— Georgia O’KeeffeGeorgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986) was a 20th century American painter and pioneer of the American modernist movement. She was discovered by the photographer, Alfred Stieglitz (for whom she became artistic muse as well as wife) and she was known for her large paintings of flowers, skyscrapers, and desert landscapes. Her long and important career was a trailblazing example for independent-minded women artists in the modern age. Georgia is widely regarded as the “Mother of American Modernism.”In this podcast, my charming friend, Haley Fynaardt, tells us a little about Georgia’s life and why she considers her one of her favorite role models. Treat yourself with a look into Hailey’s fair-trade decor shop here. You may even recognize a bit of Georgia’s influence in her style.
