Summary

Gamelyn Games has been killing it with all their Tiny Epic series, but they are expanding into the next realm with their newest Kickstarter Heroes of Land, Air and Sea. This is a 4x game without the hours of play that are often associated with these types of games. We were able to get this game on the table, learned and played in under 2 hours. Even with the few questions on the rules, the game was very easy to grasp and understand. Best of all, the downtime in this game was limited with only the start of each round being the speed bump as everyone thought through their next series of actions to perform in the coming round. But once the round got started, we were off and running. Before long, the game was over. Will admit, it might have taken longer had we been more aggressive with the other each other thus slowing down resource production, but still we made good time.
There is also a 5 Minute Initiative in this episode on the very light filler from CMON, Raise Your Goblets. Now, some of you may know this as another name, Toast!. It was a Kickstarter that did not get funded, but made its way into a game. So, there is always hope for games, even if they don’t get funded. I would drag this game out to get the evening going with people before I break out the meaty games. CMON has had some solid hits with their lighter games lately, Potion Explosion, Ta-Da!, and now Raise Your Goblets.
It is time for the 2017 Squirrelys, our annual award celebrating games from 2016. But there is one category we need your help with and that is the All Y’all Award. This is the award for what the RDTN listeners believe should have been the top game of 2016. You can enter three choices in the survey and the winner will be whoever gets the most points. Isn’t that the way all winners are determined by whoever gets the most victory points? You may enter your picks as many times as you want, but only one entry per email address will be accepted in the drawing. This drawing is for your choice of a $25 Broken Token eGift Card or Funagain Games. All entries must be received by 1/31/2017 at midnight.
