Coming back for its forth year, our annual summer movie preview show. This is our break from board gaming to explore our second favorite hobby, watching movies. The episode is all about the summer movies that will be out in 2017 and just what we think of them. There are no tomatoes given out, we do not speculate on Oscar potential, we are simply discussing whether we think this movie is worth seeing or not. The rankings have changed this year thanks to the great suggestion by Josh Schwin from our BoardGameGeek Guild, so a little explanation is in order.
* Screening: This was the Box Office ranking and if we say that it is a Screening, then we plan and believe it is worth going to the theater to see.
* Streaming: This was the Red Box ranking and this is a movie that may not be worth the expense to see at a theater and we can easily wait for its release to some type of streaming platform
* Steaming: This is a movie that while it may not be a bad movie, we have no interest at all in seeing. Then again, it could be just a pile of steaming crap.
To help us get through the movie list, we are joined once again by our good buddies from the Carolinas, Dan Patriss and Chris Kirkman. As some of you may already know, Dan is the lead host for the podcast The Geek Allstars. His podcast is about Board gaming, video gaming, MMO’s, movies, TV, tech, sports, and all things geek that come to mind. Yeah, straight from his BGG Guild page, we have no shame here. His co-host or “other guy” is Chris Kirkman, who has his own Podcast, The State of Games. Chris is also part of the Greater Than Games board game studio which is know for Sentinels of the Multiverse, VivaJava, Bottom of the 9th, Brewcrafters, and Exoplanets to name a few.
Don’t forget about our contest this year as it correlates to our yearly draft of which movies we think will be the big box office draws. You can fill out the survey by clinking on this link or viewing our webpage.
