The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy publication Financing Metropolitan Governments in Developing Countries (Bahl, Linn and Wetzel, editors 2013) provides a unique entry point to engage cities who are addressing the complex task of financing infrastructure and services across jurisdictional boundaries. In order to reach out to interested stakeholders around the world the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and the World Bank Institute are collaborating to bring together editors and chapter authors of Financing Metropolitan Governments in Developing Countries as presenters in a webinar series. Each webinar will present highlights of key themes covered in a chapter in order to enable a global conversation on metropolitan finance. The Webinar series will be held every other Tuesday from October 1, 2013 to April 22th, 2014 at 10:00 A.M (E.S.T). Each webinar will have a duration of 60 minutes which would include a 20 minute presentation and at least 40 minutes of Q&A. The Webinars will initially be held in English. In order to reach out to participants in Asia the webinars will be recorded and made available on demand basis and will be supported by Q&A sessions. The World Bank, through its Global Lab on Strategic Metropolitan Planning and WBI’s E-Institute are organizing and deliver the Webinars using Adobe Connect technology. The presentations will be made by the chapter authors from their own location and participants will link to the webinar from their computers and will be able to ask questions in real time. The first presentation in the series will be by Professor Roy W. Bahl, Regents Professor of Economics from Georgia State University who will present an overview “Governing and Financing Metropolitan Areas in the Developing World”. The session will introduce the major themes to be covered throughout the series as outlined in the webinar calendar.
