In SciComm episode 33, I am joined by Matthew Facciani. Matthew is currently working on his PhD in sociology and his main area of focus is studying the social factors of why people reject scientific evidence. His background is a bit unorthodox as he started in a cognitive neuroscience PhD program and switched a couple years ago. He has carried out research on fMRI work to a content-analysis of comic books! He has also carried out some research studying religious and political beliefs. As far as SciComm, it is something Matthew is just starting to try and do more of. He's been writing about political and social justice issues for a couple of years, but he is hoping to do more on translating science research to non-scientists. Last summer, Matthew attended a science communication workshop in Chicago.
