Matt has graciously decided to concede some of his precious Victoria Day holiday time just to look at the latest news in the residential side of the AV industry. Lutron adds onto their intelligent lighting solution line with the recently acquired Ketra bringing solutions to the forefront. In addition, there are enhancedments from Ivalo as well as Finire downlights being added. Do these solutions fill in the gaps of Lutron solutions for integrators to consider in their customer’s homes? Looking at the new products and the potential applications in the home space.
Apple has announced they will be adding high resolution lossless music for no extra charge to their Apple Music service. Since we have a pair of audiophiles with us, it’s only right to ask some important questions about audio quality. How much can we really go up in the confines of audio streaming? How much can consumers really utilize these kinds of upgrades depending on their system or lack thereof? We crunch the numbers and see what really constitutes as being “hi-res”.
Google held their first Nest Pro Virtual Summit last week, unveiling a new Nest Pro Awards Program for integrators. Their message was definitely aimed towards the custom installation channel, focusing on the entire home rather than simply the thermostats Nest is most known for. How much should integrators be paying attention to programs like this? Taking stock of what Google is doing in the CI channel and what it means for the residential space as a whole.
