Today’s Gigabit Nation episode takes on the issue of telehealth in libraries, specifically some of the critical initial steps such is goal setting and conducting a needs assessment. As libraries open up and assess operations and services after the pandemic, many are considering the possibilities that telehealth offers. My guest, Shauntee Burns-Simpson, Associate Director of the New York Public Library, has over 13 years of library service. She also is President of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA), which was formed to serve as an advocate for the development, promotion, and improvement of library services and resources to the nation’s African American community. Urban libraries can be key vehicles for driving telehealth, public health, and digital equity.
