A report from The Intercept points out that Apple gets to see who you might be talking to, although they don’t know what the messages actually say. This happens when your iPhone check in to see if the person you’re trying to contact has an iMessage account. They also track date, time and IP address, which could include location information.
While the logs are saved for 30 days, Messages and built-in apps will check back with Apple’s servers on occasion. This creates new logs of the contacts. It doesn’t happen every time, but still regularly.
Apple could potentially hand this information over to law enforcement with a court order; a briefing sheet of what can be handed over was created by a Florida law enforcement agency. Contacts identities are, however, only shown if they’ve been entered into your phone. It also doesn’t show message contents or if a contact has previously been messaged.
Apple claims they only provide data for “valid” subpoenas or court orders and that they work with law enforcement so that they understand what they’re capable of providing, which does not include actual conversations or if they even took place.

Star Wars Studio FX is basically Action Movie FX for kids, which lets you apply special effects to your footage. The iOS and Android app comes with five effects, with 30 total effects to unlock. Hasbro has 50 effects planned.
They’re divided into six categories: first-person over-the-shoulder, guest star and off-screen effects. They essentially want you to use their toys to add laser or ion cannon blasts. Every short video you make allows you to unlock special effects; there aren’t any in-app purchases. You can also scan QR codes from toys, but they’re random and can have duplicates.
Once you choose your effect, you just line up the shot and hit record. Videos need to be at least five seconds and you can’t adjust the timing of effects. You do also need to play around with the perspective for them to look right. The figures are very detailed and prices for toys range from $7.99-$299.99.
