He has also worked as a director on several high profile series. His most celebrated films include The Bay of Love and Sorrows, Drowning in Dreams, One Dead Indian, Trudeau: Maverick in the Making, L'Histoire de l'oie, Danser Perreault, Satie and Suzanne and Brent Carver: Home Through the Night. Series include Hell on Wheels, House, Animal Kingdom, Bones, Colony and Bates Motel, serving on the latter as season four producing director. He is developing his third feature film Hey 45 with writer Morwyn Brebner and producer Anna Stratton. Before becoming a filmmaker Tim studied economics, philosophy and literature at the University of Toronto and gained a master's degree in political economy from the London School of Economics. He worked for the European advertising departments of two New York-based magazines, served an apprenticeship with filmmaker/ photographer Gregory Colbert, directed a dozen commercials and was a writer on the series Traders for showrunners Hart Hanson and David Shore. In 2014 he was elected National President of the Directors Guild of Canada, and was re-elected in 2016.
