The New Orleans Saints could be hiring Kellen Moore's defensive coordinator soon and Brandon Staley is expected to be the favorite. His Vic Fangio-esque approach could be exactly what the Saints defense needs. Highlighting players like Alontae Taylor, Kool-Aid McKinstry and more could go a long way with Staley's role-defined and multiple defensive approach.
A smart and innovative defensive backs coach like Florida's former secondary coach Will Harris would be necessary in coaching things like the STAR role and attacking safeties as well as the pattern matching needs of a Fangio scheme. But the defensive line coach may be the defensive coordinator's most important hire. If Staley does get the role, Eric Henderson would be a dream hire. But his USC paycheck may be hard for Gayle Benson and the Saints to compete with.
