Deloria discusses her daughter’s heart journey and the inspiration for It’s Your Heart with her son-in-law Jerald Crowser, the show’s producer. In May 2011, the family rallied together when Cesily Crowser had an aortic dissection, which required an 8-hour emergent open heart surgery to save her. Life became chaotic with two teens and three adults all trying to run the house and Cesily’s recovery. It was post-surgery that Cesily discovered Go Red for Women and became an ambassador for women’s heart disease. She was very passionate about speaking to women to put their heart health first. Cesily and Jerald wanted spread awareness to more women, and the concept for a podcast was created. In February 2014, Cesily lost her battle to heart disease. However, Jerald continued to develop the podcast and Deloria joined in with the hope that the information would save other families from losing a loved one.
